Zoetis Ranked Among Top Ten Companies for Working Mothers
On September 16, Zoetis was named among the top 10 on Working Mother magazine’s "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" list. The publication selects the top 100 companies in the U.S. that have demonstrated their commitment to progressive workplace programs such as child care, flexibility, advancement and paid family leave.
“Zoetis is honored to be named one of Working Mother magazine’s top ten companies in our first year as an independent public company,” said Roxanne Lagano, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Zoetis. “We know our colleagues are critical to our success and vital to our customers. In establishing Zoetis, we have built a culture that truly supports our people and recognizes their importance. This means we are committed to the success of working mothers at Zoetis and provide a range of benefits and family-friendly policies to foster a supportive working environment for all our colleagues.”
Zoetis was ranked highly by Working Mother for its benefits and work-life programs. These include flexible work arrangements, health and wellness offerings, back-up child care, employee discounts, paid time off, leaves of absence, adoption assistance and tuition aid programs. Zoetis was also acknowledged for its Women’s Council networking group, a grass-roots organization of approximately 500 U.S. colleagues who share ways to address work-life balance and financial planning for families.
“The Working Mother 100 Best Companies are leaders in the advancement of women by supporting their need to integrate family and work successfully. We are excited to see Zoetis debut as one of our top ten companies in its very first year as an independent public company,” said Carol Evans, President, Working Mother Media. “Women now make up 50% of the workforce in the U.S. We need to make sure they have the support to be outstanding moms as well as great employees. Zoetis has clearly demonstrated its support for working moms."
Betty Mason Named Working Mother of the Year for Zoetis
Betty Mason, Site Leader at the Zoetis manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Neb., was named the Zoetis 2014 Working Mother of the Year. Over a 27-year career with Zoetis and its predecessor Pfizer, Ms. Mason has worked on the manufacturing and development of animal health vaccines and medicines, while raising her 13-year-old twins Jacob and Emily. Her twins were born three months premature and the family faced months of medical challenges. “The company enabled me to do what I needed to do,” said Ms. Mason. “I took six months off, started back on a part-time schedule and was able to be there for my kids when they needed me.”
Ms. Mason is a role model for her contributions to the community as well. She served on the boards of her church and local United Way chapter. She also finds time to volunteer and coach sports teams. “It’s important for me to be an active member of the community. I want to be a good example to my children and co-workers about the importance of caring for people,” she said.
