Teams lace up their running shoes for local charities around the world
At Zoetis, supporting our local communities is one of the ways we create value for our business and society (see Our Six Areas of Responsibility). Our colleagues take pride in giving back and are willing to go the extra mile to support local charities. Read on to learn more about colleagues from many of our Zoetis markets who race to make a difference.
China
Colleagues in China partnered with China’s Veterinary Medical Association and other animal welfare organizations to host the 4th “World Veterinary Day 5K Charity Run” in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. Each year the event raises awareness about animal welfare and raises funds for local animal shelters. The run also leverages World Veterinary Day to highlight the important role veterinarians play within society. Around 700 veterinarians and pet owners from the four cities where it took place raised $20,000 to benefit animals. Zoetis colleagues complemented the Shanghai race by hosting a Charity Sale that raised an additional $1,000.
Italy
Zoetis colleagues and their dogs swapped Zoetis Orange for Susan G. Komen Pink to increase breast cancer awareness in Italy. In May, colleagues joined the “Komen Italia Race for the Cure” in the streets of central Rome to help raise funds for educational and early detection programs, celebrate survivors and honor those who have lost their battle with the disease.
United States
In April, more than 50 Exton, Pennsylvania colleagues participated in the 2019 Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Walk For Paws and 5K Run. As one of the event’s corporate sponsors, Zoetis raised $5,209 for the SPCA to help homeless animals in the community, and colleagues showed their Zoetis colors in bright orange t-shirts. The Brandywine Valley SPCA serves as the community’s voice for the prevention of animal cruelty, adoption, animal health and many specialized needs. The BVSPCA exceeded last year’s event fundraising with a total of $112,389 in donations.
And for the fourth year in a row, colleagues from Zoetis’ global headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey will take part in the Corporate Fun Run of New Jersey in July. Last year, more than 112 colleagues including local Zoetis Executive Team members participated in the 5K race to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s New Jersey Chapter. The annual event is an excellent way for our Zoetis colleagues to team-up and show support for a great cause.
