PHARMAQ Announces Partnership for Aquaculture Productivity and Sustainability in Colombia
This week PHARMAQ announced a strategic partnership to improve productivity and sustainability in the tilapia value chain in Colombia. Supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), Zoetis will partner with governmental authorities, local veterinary associations, NGOs, farmer associations and other stakeholders in the industry to provide fish health management and best aquaculture practices training, grounded in vaccination, to tilapia farmers. Over the next three years, the project aims to make key progress and uncover key learnings that will contribute to a longer-term sustainable business model and fish farming infrastructure in the region.
Donating Products to the Brave Rescue Dogs of Greece
Our colleagues in Greece saw an opportunity to donate Zoetis vaccines and parasiticides with the brave dogs of their National Rescue Special Forces Service. Zoetis initiated an annual program to ensure the fire dogs are up-to-date with their vaccinations and free from fleas and ticks, so they are in their best health to perform their vital work. "These dogs contribute greatly to society with their search and rescue efforts, in Greece and the European Union, and our team is proud to support the critical services they provide," said George Melas, General Manager, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, and Eastern Balkans.
Connecting the Local Food Community with the Public in Thailand
In Thailand, colleagues continued their commitment to help the country's local farmers and producers who face challenges such as low agriculture prices. The team initiated the second annual Farm to Table street fair to connect the public with a large offering of high-quality local products. Over 25 diverse exhibitors attended this year, leveraging the special event to launch new products and connect with customers. Theerachai Wongcharoo, General Manager, Thailand, said, "We are proud to be part of local producers' success. It's great to see consumers sampling new products that they will likely buy again." The event is an important milestone as Zoetis Thailand and the animal health industry support farmers in exploring opportunities for new products and increasing brand awareness.
Supporting the Human-Animal Bond in Kalamazoo
Zoetis colleagues in the Kalamazoo, Michigan GMS site made a $2,000 donation to a local organization that trains service dogs for those with disabilities, called Paws with a Cause. The Zoetis donation powered a Paws Assistance Dog Team, certified last month. The team comprises service dog Mater and his owner Molly. Mater supports Molly to become more independent. "Your generosity has truly helped Molly to achieve greater self-sufficiency along with giving her the loving companionship of Mater. Your gift will enrich Molly's life for many years to come," said Michele Suchovsky, Paws with a Cause CEO.
Contributing to Hunger-Relief Efforts in New Jersey and Iowa
In the U.S., National Agriculture Day is a time when farmers and agricultural associations share how they contribute food, fuel and fiber to our daily lives. As part of a recent National Agriculture Day celebration in our Parsippany, New Jersey Global Headquarters, colleagues held an office-wide food drive for the state's largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization. To further emphasize Zoetis' commitment to ensuring a safe and sustainable food supply, colleagues contributed to the hunger-relief efforts of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey by collecting nonperishable food items and raising funds for the organization during the weeks surrounding Ag Day.
Charles City, Iowa colleagues also recently contributed to ensuring a safe and sustainable food supply in their local community. Colleagues gathered more than 1,000 food items and over $2,500 in donationas through a food drive. The food donations were taken to Jordan River Messiah's food pantry in Charles City, and the monetary donation was sent to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and will be distributed among seven area counties where colleagues reside. Every dollar given to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank helps them provide four meals.
