What's the Future for Injured Show Horse Matador?

Dr. José García-López of Tufts University Hospital for Large Animals outside Boston examines Matador, an injured show horse, who is showing lameness in one leg. Dr. García-López grew up and went to college in Puerto Rico before earning his veterinary degree at UPenn, and now specializes in lameness, orthopedic, and respiratory surgery for his horse patients. Dr. Garcia-Lopez's areas of clinical expertise and interests include orthopedic surgery and upper respiratory surgery, especially procedures using lasers and other emerging techniques. In addition, his area of research expertise includes development and testing of new instrumentation and implants used in surgery. He continues to improve and develop new techniques and instrumentation which aid in management and treatment of fractures and joint injuries.
