In this article, we look at recent examples of how Zoetis and our colleagues are supporting the communities where we operate.
Our Six Areas of Responsibility define how we at Zoetis make an impact on society while creating value for our business. In this article, we look at recent examples of how Zoetis and our colleagues are supporting the communities where we operate.
At Zoetis, we use our resources, time and expertise to make a difference in our communities in various ways. We promote pet adoption worldwide and provide medicines, vaccines, and diagnostics to shelters that provide healthcare for animals awaiting new homes. We help first responders — human and canine — and support the costs of healthcare for retired military, police and service dogs. And we are there when our communities need us most in response to natural disasters.
Reacting to Devastating Earthquakes in Italy
Recent earthquakes that began in August 2016 in central Italy have severely damaged over 25,000 farms across 131 towns and villages, leaving more than 10,000 animals dead or injured.
In response to this crisis, Zoetis recently partnered with Italy's National Association of Italian Veterinarians (ANMVI) to launch "Re.agire" (Italian for "react"), an initiative to provide practical help for farmers and veterinarians from across the regions of Umbria, Marche, Lazio and Abruzzo. Under the patronage of Italy's Ministry of Health, Re.agire will restore animal health by providing diagnostic and supply solutions.
Re.agire builds on other Zoetis projects supporting Italy's earthquake victims, including a program training dogs to search for missing people. It has also purchased food products from affected areas to donate to the Community of Sant'Egidio, an organization helping the homeless in Rome and surrounding areas.
Supporting St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center at Headquarters
At our headquarters site in Parsippany, NJ, U.S., Zoetis has a long-standing relationship with St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, one of the largest animal shelter networks in the area.
The Zoetis team recently participated in a fundraising run/walk in support of St. Hubert’s, where they raised the largest group donation and had more than 20 colleagues participate in the event. The money raised went to supporting homeless pets.
Additionally, at Take Your Child to Work Day in Parsippany at the end of April, the attending children created pet pillows that were donated to St. Hubert’s. Colleagues also contributed to a pet food and supply drive for the shelter.

World Veterinary Day Run in China
On April 29, Zoetis colleagues in China helped to organize and sponsor the second annual "World Veterinary Day 5K Charity Run," which took place in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. The event connected veterinarians with each other and raised awareness about the living conditions of stray animals and animal welfare issues. The run attracted over one thousand veterinarians and pet owners in the four cities where it took place.
The money raised from this event was donated to the four animal welfare and adoption groups which
co-organized the event. In addition, Zoetis also donated an equal value of Zoetis medicines to the organizations.
