Farmers Raise Cattle Humanely, Producing Beef for America, Part II
Part II of II. Farmers are committed to responsible care for their livestock animals because a farm's success depends on successfully raising healthy animals, says veterinarian Dr. John Groves of Missouri.
In this episode of Veterinarians On Call, Dr. Groves examines a herd of cattle at stocker operation Bolinger Farms, where hundreds of calves are weaned from their mothers each week and raised to 700 pounds, before being sold to a feedyard where they will grow to two years old and a market size of 1,100 pounds. Dr. Groves and farmer Greg Bolinger show that the cattle are kept comfortable and are treated well.
"We have pride in how we take care of our cattle, it's part of our daily lives," says Dr. Groves.
