Advancing the Veterinary Profession
Veterinarians play a crucial role in sustaining the world’s food supply and in caring for the growing number of companion animals that improve the lives of their owners. Zoetis invests in the future of the veterinary profession by supporting research, education and specialized skills training so veterinarians have the resources they need to provide the best healthcare possible for the animals they treat.
We work with leading scientists and research institutes to identify and address the most pressing challenges facing animal health today. Through our partnerships with a range of organizations, we support veterinary medical research and development initiatives that aim to manage disease more effectively so that we can safeguard a sustainable, global supply of high-quality animal protein.
Our efforts to support and advance the veterinary profession around the world include dedicated partnerships such as:
International Veterinary Collaboration for China
Zoetis is a founding member of the world’s first international animal health consortium that helps advance veterinary medical education and practice standards in the People’s Republic of China.
STAR-IDAZ Global Research Network
Zoetis is the founding industry member of this global research network that brings together research organizations, the pharmaceutical industry and international animal health bodies to make significant progress in infectious disease research and bring about targeted and tangible control methods.
Easter Bush Research Consortium
Our research collaboration with the largest veterinary research consortium in Europe is aimed at finding better ways to prevent and manage disease, and to advance sustainable animal agriculture and welfare in Europe.
Performance Pays Program
We partner with veterinarians, animal health suppliers and customers to support youth in agriculture through training and education. This program has raised more than $4.7 million since 2008 to benefit students through Future Farmers of America (FFA), the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) Foundation, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Foundation.
European Commission Programme 7 Grant
Zoetis is the sole commercial partner in a worldwide alliance of academic and research institutions that received a grant from the European Commission to develop vaccines and diagnostics for parasitic worms in livestock, a constant worldwide threat. The award, known as a Programme 7 grant, is the largest ever research grant to be awarded to a single animal health consortium.
Canine Lifetime Health Project
We are working with the Morris Animal Foundation on a 13-year long, first-of-its-kind observational study of the genetic, nutritional and environmental risk factors for canine diseases.
